Hey folks, A reminder that your redrafted 'Visiting Hour' essay is due on the Monday of the last week of term. Please be sure to follow my list of 'tips' to ensure you make meaningful changes. Here is the link to the notes I told you about: www.hsn.uk.net/files/HSN41010.pdfHowever, use with caution as these are Higher notes so there is a lot of analysis here that I didn't give you as it's really quite advanced and some of you found the poem quite challenging. Obviously if you are reading it and find something you wish to use, you must use your own words! Any questions, post away... Mrs K

I don't have the exact wording (it is also in class!) but it was along the lines of MacCaig recounts an ordinary experience but makes a more serious point too. That is, going to visit someone in hospital often makes us think about the nature of life and death etc. Hope this helps a little Thomas!

When I wrote "The speaker shows great admiration to the nurses working in the hospital" and you wrote "topic sentence?" does that mean I should have something else in the sentence?

Yes - link it back in some way either to the previous paragraph or the essay question.
