Hi folks,
You have two pieces of homework to do over the summer holidays. Both have to be completed by / handed in on Wednesday 15th August.
1. Read 'A Farewell to Arms' and bring the book back into school. You will be given a test on the novel on the first day back.
2. Hand in your first draft persuasive essay. You should include all relevant evidence and provide a bibliography of your sources too.
If you are on the music trip on the last week of term you still have to complete these tasks as I told you about them yesterday!
Any questions, post away.

I'm really stuck with the persuasive essay, I don't know who to write it and I'm stuck with the topic that Britian doesn't need a royal family.

Hi Cameron,
Ok - do not panic! I will send you a message with some help and see how you get on. Remember it is just a first draft and handing in something is always better than handing in nothing! Hope you're having a nice holiday. Mrs K

Hi Louise,
Hope you're enjoying your holidays.
Remember that your conclusion should be a summing up of the main points you've made in your essay so try to decide which are your strongest arguments and briefly summarise these. Be sure to state very clearly what your opinion is in a last attempt to persuade your reader that you are right about it. You may also want to end it with a persuasive device that appeals to the reader to think about your topic (direct appeal, flattery, rhetorical question etc).
If this doesn't help, come back to me. Don't panic though as it is only a first draft.
Mrs K
